Mark Rothko –White Center 1950

The colour scheme used in this painting consists of warm and tertiary colours, using that of the orange and yellow to show the warm colouring and the red and orange to show the tertiary colouring chosen. The use of the warm colours allows them to all complement each other and provide a soothing element to the image and not one of a hectic energy. This image gives me the feeling of being warm, content and happy through the use of the orange and red surrounding the whole image. Also the use of the pink adds a vibrant element to the image, a burst of bright energy complimenting the use of the other colours.
