Vincent Van Gogh – Sunflowers 1888

The colour scheme used in this image consists of warm colours and also tertiary colours. Different shades of yellow and browns are used along with small uses of green in the stems, this adding tone and texture into the image. The different tones of yellows create texture in the flower and the petals, it shows the difference in the light touching each petal.  Warm colours have been used to make the viewer feel happy when looking at the picture however the brown chosen and used against the yellow creates a contrast to help you see the difference between the brightness and life within the sunflowers and the dullness of the neighbouring brown flower.
